Unmatched Atmosphere Welcomes College Basketball’s Top Seniors

Minneapolis, Minn. (April 5, 2019) – In a see-it to believe-it atmosphere, five teams clinched spots in Sunday’s knockout round in front of an exuberant Mall of America crowd on the opening day of the 2019 Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship on Friday.

Fans lined the main floor of the Rotunda, in many instances four and five rows deep, and packed the rails of the Mall’s second, third and fourth floors to catch the nation’s best college basketball seniors compete in fast-paced 3-on-3 action. The highlight of the night was the crowd’s roars as the Big Ten team, which included hometown favorite Jordan Murphy took the floor for its first game of the Tournament.

The ACC, out of Pool A, the Southland and West Coast conferences out of Pool B, and the American Athletic and Northeast conferences, out of Pool C, each went 2-0 on the day to secure their spot in Sunday’s knockout stage, where the winning squad will claim $100,000. The ACC has also won its pool by virtue of victories over the Mountain West and Patriot League. Meanwhile, the SEC finished the night with a 2-0 record in Pool D and is in prime position to punch its ticket to Sunday’s bracketed format.

Teams in pools E, F, G and H played just once Friday night but will play twice on Saturday. Tomorrow’s schedule begins at 8:30 a.m. CT and features the final game for each team in Pools A through D, with Pools E through H starting their doubleheader day at approximately 11:10 a.m.

Saturday’s games of the 2019 Dos Equis 3X3U National Championship will be streamed live exclusively on Twitter at @3X3UHoops. Mall of America doors will be open when play begins at 8:30 a.m.
